Kirsty Schist Dressage

Coaching and Schooling Services

About

Kirsty has self trained her own horses from the beginning stages right up to Grand Prix winning multiple young horse, regional and island/national championships along the way, so has a complete understanding of how the whole process works to progress your horses training.

She has formal equestrian coaching qualifications from both Germany and New Zealand and has also studied sports coaching at university level. She is well known for being excellent at communicating not only how to do something but the reasoning behind it, setting riders up for lifelong success as they can utilise what they are learning not only on their current horse but future horses as well.

The foundation of her work is based on the fact that the process of dressage training is fundamentally built on strengthening the horse correctly so they can carry more weight on the hindquarters and become a lighter easier ride. By training with Kirsty you will gain an understanding of a whole system where exercises are used to gradually prepare your horse for the more difficult work by strengthening up the correct muscles, rather than quick fixes which only end up hindering the training.

Services

All services are currently available onsite at Kirsty Schist Dressage in Sefton with a great all weather surfaced dressage arena with mirrors at $80 per session. Kirsty also travels throughout North Canterbury on Wednesdays, limited spots available at $90 per session. Text 0273074878 for bookings.

One on one coaching

Lessons are individually tailored to each horse and rider. Kirsty works with a wide variety of riders, from those gaining success at championships to those who don’t compete but still wish to experience the joys of training a horse to be a light and willing partner. She also trains riders from multiple other disciplines including showing, eventing and showjumping who understand the importance of correct foundations.

Inhand/lungeing sessions

Kirsty has worked with multiple classical dressage trainers and has her lungeing badge from the Westphalian Riding School. She has an excellent system for developing the inhand and lungeing work and can train riders how to utilise this work to make the exercises under saddle easier.

Schooling rides

Kirsty is able to ride your horse for part or all of a coaching session. This can be really valuable to understand what you are feeling from the horse, or if you would like your horses training to progress more quickly.
